Serve & Protect event

As Chattanooga’s foremost authority on aquatic conservation, the Tennessee Aquarium is helping people discover how making wise seafood choices can have a tremendous positive impact on our world.  The Aquarium’s Serve & Protect sustainable seafood program, founded in partnership with famed foodist Alton Brown, brings together local restaurants and seafood suppliers to offer sustainable seafood guidance that’s easy to digest.  Our annual Serve & Protect events deliver seafood wit and wisdom in an entertaining way to support the Aquarium’s mission-critical work.

The 2013 Serve & Protect events include:

  • A lunchtime event at IMAX
  • An evening event at IMAX paired with an elegant seafood dinner served in an Aquarium gallery
  • A weekend of savory sustainable seafood dinners offered at participating restaurants
  • The Cast Iron Cookoff featuring sustainable seafood at the Chattanooga Market

ATTEND A LUNCH EVENT LIKE NO OTHER:
Join friends at 11:00 a.m. for cooking demonstrations and sampling presented by Whole Foods Market in the IMAX Great Hall.  Enjoy a gourmet boxed lunch in the IMAX Theater while Chef's Virginia Willis and Susan Spicer go stove-to-stove in a savory cooking program featuring Gulf Seafood injected with Cajun flair. Mix and mingle with the Chefs during a dessert reception following this lively program. Featured goodies can be brought back to the office for those with limited lunch hours. → PURCHASE TICKETS

THE MAIN EVENING EVENT: 
The dinner event begins at 5:30 p.m. in the IMAX Great Hall. Participants can sample a variety of sustainable seafood appetizers while enjoying cocktails.  Mix and mingle with the featured Chefs before they take the stage in IMAX for the “Decapod Duel.” This fast-paced live cooking program explores the culinary possibilities of two similar, yet very different sustainable choices – shrimp and crayfish. Following this entertaining and enlightening show, guests will be seated in an Aquarium gallery for an elegant dinner prepared by Chattanooga’s finest Chefs.  The evening will culminate with a dessert reception in the River Journey lobby.  → PURCHASE TICKETS

DOWNTOWN DINE AROUND: 
The fun continues with the Downtown Dine Around on Friday and Saturday as participating restaurants feature sustainable seafood dishes throughout the weekend.  Keep an eye out for the Serve & Protect logo as you try out some new dishes at your favorite downtown eateries.
