Playing with Paper and Clay: How We Design New Exhibits

When it’s time to create new experiences at the Aquarium, Senior Manager of Exhibit Services Jeff Worley begins by creating concept drawings that are translated into architectural blueprints. He then begins a weekslong process of building one-to-one, three-dimensional representations of those blueprints. These dioramas are often stunningly close to the finished product and often are used as construction models by the crews responsible for building the final gallery.
