Aqua Camp Counselor in Training

Are you between the ages of 14-17 years old and looking for a fun and meaningful way to spend your summer? Apply to become an Aqua Camp Counselor in Training volunteer (CITs) with the Tennessee Aquarium! Learn skills that can be applied to future careers in environmental science, childcare, and many other fields. Day camp CITs will assist counselors during games, crafts, experiments, Aquarium tours, and more for campers between the ages of 4-14 years old.

Qualifications:

• Ability to work well with others in a team.
• Willing to engage with groups of 15-20 children.
• Be a positive role model for campers.
• Enthusiasm!
• Willingness to learn.
• Love for nature and interest in conservation education.
• Must be between the ages of 14-17 years old.

 Commitment:

• Aqua Camp Counselors in Training volunteers must be able to attend mandatory training from June 3^rd-7^th.
• Counselors in Training must be able to commit to at least 3 full weeks of camp during the summer. Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Camp runs between June 10^th – July 26^th.

** During the week of July 4^th, camp is only held between July 1^st-3^rd.
All staff and volunteers will be off for July 4^th and July 5^th. **

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

• Ability to work outdoors during with hot temperatures and occasional wet/muddy conditions.
• Ability to keep up physically with children while frequently standing for long periods of time, walking, running, stooping, hiking, caving, and lifting.
• Possible crowded and loud conditions indoors, both in our camp classrooms and in our Aquarium buildings.

• 2 free tickets to invite family or friends to tour the aquarium.
• Free personal entry into the Aquarium during your time as a CIT. (May 28, 2024 – August 26, 2024)
