Red-Collared Brown Lemur baby cuddled with its parents at the Tennessee Aquarium

Drop in Lemur Forest in the Ocean Journey building on Thursday, July 9 for a Lemur Baby Shower! There will be activities between 10:00 AM & 2:00 PM ET and the official gender & name reveal at 2:15 PM ET.

Guests can catch a glimpse of the furry addition while enjoying lemur-themed activities, keeper chats, giveaways, and a complimentary sweet treat from Sunbelt Bakery.

This event is free for Aquarium Members and the River Society, and included in Aquarium admission on July 9. No registration required.

At the Tennessee Aquarium, Red-collared Brown Lemur parents, John (male) and Kintana (female), from left, snuggle while their newborn peeks into view. The birth of this unnamed infant is an important milestone for this endangered species, which is rarely exhibited in American zoos or aquariums.

This adorable baby Red-collared Brown Lemur is the first lemur born at the Aquarium and arrived in late April 2026 to first-time parents John and Kintana. While its gender has not yet been determined, this tiny newcomer is already stealing hearts.

To celebrate this exciting milestone, the community is invited to help name the newest member of our lemur troop! Simply open the survey and choose your favorite name.
