See a Film, Feed a Fish

Did you know you can support the animal care and conservation work of the Tennessee Aquarium by simply seeing a movie?

When you purchase a ticket at the Tennessee Aquarium IMAX 3D Theater, you’re purchasing a premium theater experience. The facility’s 12-channel, mathematically aligned speaker system produces pitch-perfect sound, and the dual-4K IMAX with Laser projection system presents films at levels of sharpness, color and luminance unmatched by any other facility within hundreds of miles of Chattanooga.

Combined, this system ensures a screening on our six-story-tall, 89-feet-wide screen — the largest in the Scenic City — makes audiences feel as if they’ve been transported to an exotic locale, whether on our planet or elsewhere in the vast reaches of space.

Pandora, featured in Avatar: Fire and Ash, is just one of the exotic locales IMAX can bring you to.
Two penguins standing side-by-side looking out at the ocean on a sandy ground.
Penguins: A Love Story 3D is a tale of two adorable families and their unexpected protectors, be it the human kind or four legged friend. We’ll follow one penguin chick from each population, Australian and African, on their lifelong journeys from hatchling to hero, as they waddle, hop and belly flop their way to adulthood, looking for love and forming their own penguin families.

But above all, when you purchase a ticket, you’re also fueling the mission of the Aquarium to connect people with nature and empower them to make informed decisions about water and wildlife.

A portion of your purchase goes to fuel the work of our conservation scientists and to ensure the animals in our facilities receive world-class care at the hands of a team of expert animal care specialists, aquarists and veterinarians.

When you purchase a ticket to see Penguins: A Love Story or Lost Wolves of Yellowstone, the price you see is the price you pay. You don’t pay tax on that ticket because of the status of the Aquarium as a non-profit organization.

That extends to our “Hollywood” feature films as well. When you drop by for a screening of The Bride or Project Hail Mary, that money helps us continue to do amazing things like restore Lake Sturgeon to Tennessee or to conserve one of North America’s most-endangered fish: the Laurel Dace.

The successful operation of the Aquarium relies on a lot of groups working together to provide care and support to the animals in our care. Similarly, the Aquarium is buoyed by the IMAX 3D Theater and the guests who spend their time and money there.

That’s a big impact, to be sure, but then again…it IS a big screen.
