A new baby Gentoo penguin has joined Penguins’ Rock

Date Jul 3, 2025
Published in At the Aquarium

On May 29, a baby Gentoo Penguin hatched out of an egg laid to parents Carla (mom) and Big Foot (dad) in the Penguins’ Rock gallery! In the first month of life, the chick has been growing SUPER quickly. At 33 days old, it has increased its hatch weight (91 grams) by more than 2,500%!

Until we receive the results from a blood test in November, we won’t know the chick’s gender, but for now, we’re over the moon excited to welcome this little ball of floof to the colony!

Check in on our penguins on our live webcams or learn about penguin drama at the Aquarium with our “Love on the Rocks” series!
