Growing Pains — The Danger of Removing Turtles from the Wild!

Did you realize that many turtle species can live as long as (or even longer) than humans? That longevity can be a double-edged sword, though. With such long lifespans, turtles can also take longer to reach sexual maturity and produce just a few eggs per clutch. That means the loss of a single turtle can create a hole that takes years or even decades to fill.
