Areas of Expertise: Herpetology, Field Biology, Population Augmentation, Ectotherm Husbandry
Stephen joined the Tennessee Aquarium team in 2025 after 14 years of working at Zoo Knoxville. Most recently, he worked as the Herpetology Collection and Conservation Manager. He also previously worked as a field technician for United States Geological Survey (USGS) Amphibian Research and Monitoring Initiative (ARMI), Purdue University, and University of Tennessee. As a field technician, he assisted with salamander and frog surveys ranging from northern Georgia to Maryland.
His effort to help recover species has allowed him to work in beautiful places ranging from the southern Appalachian Mountains to the Spiny Forest of southern Madagascar. Stephen is excited to manage the reintroduction programs for the Aquarium and is looking forward to helping species recover through collaboration with our partners.
Hobbies: Snorkeling, canoeing, and exploring new places.
