On May 16, 2026 in Spring City, TN, the Aquarium and its partners will host the Second Annual Laurel Dace Day with a 5k, 10k, Half Mile Fun Run and celebration to support the critically endangered Laurel Dace.
Laurel Dace Day wouldn’t be possible without the generous help from our community members as volunteers. We’ll need help with setting up the races, passing out snacks and water, guiding vendors to booth locations, and more.
We have a variety of opportunities and time slots available if you or someone you know is interested in volunteering at Laurel Dace Day! We appreciate any support.
Race Support
Role: Help event organizers set up registration tables for the race, pass out water and snacks, assist with clean up, cheer on participants
Shift: 7am-10am ET
Fun Run
Role: Help event organizers set up 1/2 mile fun run, water and snack distribution, and clean up, cheer on participants
Shift: 7:30am-10:30am ET
Festival Setup
Role: Assist event organizers with directing vendors to booth locations and set up as needed
Shift: 7:30am-8:30am ET

Welcome Table
Role: Welcome community members to Laurel Dace Day and assist with wayfinding
Shifts available (Eastern Time): 7am-9am | 9am-11am | 11am-1pm
Parking Attendant
Role: Direct attendees to appropriate parking spots
Shifts available (Eastern Time): 7am-9am | 9am-11am | 11am-1pm
Music Assistance
Role: Assist music organizer with sound and set up/break down as needed
Shift: 10:30am-12:30pm ET

Festival Breakdown
Role: Assist event organizers with break down
Shift: 12:30pm-2pm ET
Environmental Steward
Role: Help maintain the grounds by collecting trash and guiding recycling
Shifts available (Eastern Time): 9am-10:30am | 10:30am-12pm | 12pm-1:30pm
Floater
Role: Fill in gaps and helping out where extra hands might be needed
Shifts available (Eastern Time): 7am-9am | 9am-11am | 11am-1pm
