Dr. Jeronimo Silva’s work focuses on the ecology, conservation, and management of riverine habitats and aquatic fauna. His projects focus on applied science, integrating field and laboratory approaches to examine how environmental stressors influence species distribution and organismal health, and frequently involve rare, threatened, or federally endangered species. Dr. Silva collaborates with universities, non-profits, state and federal agencies, conservation practitioners, and private landowners. His work bridges topics such as species distribution, landscape ecology, and conservation genetics, as well as areas within conservation medicine and One Health, including host–pathogen dynamics, disease ecology, and epidemiology. Freshwater mussels, amphibians, reptiles, fish, and the ecosystems they inhabit are his primary study systems.
