Boeseman's Rainbowfish have an oblong to slender body, like the shape of a football. Their head and front of their body is a blue-gray color, and the rear of their body is orange, with females not typically as vibrant.
They tend to stay in groups and spend time near the surface of the water for food. Boeseman's Rainbowfish are commonly found in small creeks leading into Ajamaru Lake in West Papua, Indonesia, the region they are indigenous to.
