While originating in Brazil, Longwing Julia Butterflies are native to some southern states in the United States. In addition to Florida, they can be found in Texas and as far north as Nebraska as well. These butterflies are often distinguished by their longer-than average wingspan, which makes them both quick and agile flyers. The species is also sometimes referred to as "the flame".
